Rough week, good ending...

This last week was really rough. Our first baby, Lily, was in the Emergency Clinic for most of the week for her getting into some drugs we had for Scooby's hips and getting really sick from it. Long story short, her kidneys started to not work all that well, so she was on round the clock fluids for a few days and away from us at the EAC. But, it looks like things were looking up. Derek told me that we needed to keep her there overnight Thursday night too. But then when we got there to visit after work, he surprised me with an early Mother's Day present of bringing her home. I was so happy! We don't know if there is any permanent damage to her kidneys just yet. We are probably going to do this special test down in Gilbert in a couple weeks to see what we are looking at, but in the mean time she is going to be on some special kidney diet food and under our close eye. It was so nice to have her home with us. Scooby was SO happy too.

So, we spent the weekend chilling so we could get some good Lily love in. We also decided to try out rice cereal with Jacob. He really seemed to like it. We only gave him a small amount, but he smiled through the feeding. Here are some pictures of him eating his first "meal".

Chicago Cubs 11 Arizona Diamondbacks 3

Second game of the season for G-daddy, Mommy and I. I must have been the Cubbie's lucky charm, because they beat the D-backs a whopping 11-3!!! Mommy and G-daddy said it was okay to boo the D-backs and cheer on the Cubs, but ONLY in this situation. I was kind of confused, but I played along. It must have worked! GOOOOO CUBBIES!
UPDATE: It is quite obvious that I was the lucky charm as they got "spanked", as my mommy would say, the next day. Why didn't Mommy get more tickets???

4 month check up

We had Jacob's 4 month check up on Friday. He weighs 14 lbs. 11 oz, 25.5 inches long and is doing great! Doctor said we can start him on solids if we want, but since he is eating well and sleeping well, we don't necessarily need to at this point. I think I am going to wait until I know for sure he needs solids or reevaluate at 5 months. I don't see the need to rush into it if he is satisfied with what he is getting right now. His ears are all cleared up, even though we have a couple more days of antibiotics. He had more shots, but it went relatively well. He didn't even flinch with the first one, so I was thinking hmm....maybe this won't be that bad. Then the pain kicked in and he started to SCREAM. But it didn't last long after I picked him up. He was asleep before we even got out of the parking lot. Then Saturday happened...He woke up with hives. They came and went for a few hours. Then we called the nurse on call. She said it was probably more of a reaction to the antibiotics than the shots since he had no reaction last time. Regardless, same treatment. Little Benadryl and lots of sleep.

Here are his 3 month pictures that we got back this weekend. He is too freaking cute if I do say so myself! :)

4 months old already?

Time has certainly been flying by. Just yesterday Rachel and I were chatting and I said before we know it our guys will be 16 years old begging us to borrow the car. I just started to cry! It is so fun to see him learn new things every day, get bigger and grow up, but at the same time I want to keep him in a bubble. We just got him over his first cold and ear infection, that wasn't too fun. He was great through it all, I was more uncomfortable than him, I think! We have his 4 month check up on Friday afternoon, which means more shots. Hopefully it goes smoothly.

I'm gonna be a soccer player!

Mommy and I went to Daddy's first soccer game tonight! It was so much fun watching everyone run and kick the ball. Daddy was AMAZING if I do say so myself! I rooted him on. I hope he heard me!

Easter --A little late

I haven't had a chance to update the blog in a bit, so here is Easter a few days late. The puppies played Easter Bunny. Lily wasn't too keen on the whole deal. Jake was getting over a cold, so we didn't have the chance to go visit the Easter Bunny. Next year...We went over to Derek's Aunt and Uncle's house for Easter dinner. It was nice to see everyone. Some of them had not seen Jacob since he was just a few days old for Christmas Eve!

Go D-backs

Mommy, G-daddy (yes that is what he wants to be called, he is so silly) and I went to my first D-backs game. It was a great first game, I can't wait to go to more! Next game is the Cubbies...Too bad I can't have hot dogs yet. Someday...
