Week of fun

A couple of weeks ago my grandma and aunt came in from Iowa to visit. So, he got to meet his Great Aunt and Great Grandma. He chatted it up with Aunt Patty, let Grandma give him a bottle and fell asleep in her arms. We also went to family's for a big dinner since my cousins Ami and Kris were in town too for Cubs Spring Training. Jacob had fun meeting all his relatives. Then on Sunday (whew busy weekend, see why I haven't had the chance to update???) my mom, dad, grandma, aunt, aunt's husband, Jacob and I went out to Tortilla Flats and took in the sights. It is gorgeous out there! I can't believe I have lived here this long and have never seen it! Here are a couple pics from the weekend.

Back to work...

It has been a great, yet short three months. I go back to work on Tuesday (tomorrow). It will be great to be exclusively around adults again, but torturous at the same time to be away from my little guy. On Monday I did a breaking in half day of day care for Jacob (actually Mommy needed the breaking in). One of our good friends has their 3 year old daughter there, so I knew he was in good hands, but I still cried. One of the moms waited for me outside to offer me some words of encouragement about how she has had two kids go there and she couldn't ask for a better place. So I wouldn't just sit in the car from 7:30 until 11, Derek and I went to Hot Bagels and then I went and got my hair cut and a manicure. When I went to pick him up he was sleeping and happy as could be. The selfish part of me wanted him to miss me dearly, but alas he didn't. But when he saw me he did break out a smile that made my heart melt. The only bad thing is that he didn't take his whole bottle, but he has yet to master that skill regularly. He likes the boob much more :) Hopefully the rest of the week he fares better on the bottle as he will be getting 3 a day there. Otherwise he will be attached to me from the second we get home until the second he goes to bed! I spent the rest of the day just taking him in. Memorizing his little face, watching him sleep, cuddling him to the point of smothering and getting in some great play time...UGHHHHHHHHHHH THIS SUCKS!

Check out who is three months old today!!!!

Where has the time gone? I honestly don't know. Jake is growing like mad and learning something new each day. The past couple of days he has been going to town on his fist, but just not unhinging his thumb from it. Well, today he realized, I can put my thumb in my mouth and hasn't looked back. Here is a little video of him sucking on his thumb happy as a clam. Also some other pictures from Jake and Jaxson's play date at Tempe Beach Park, Jake sporting his first faux hawk and just being Jake.

Backyard play time

It was so nice out the other morning that I thought Jake would like some play time in the back yard with Scooby and Lily. Lily was so stoked that she tried and tried to get Jake to throw the ball for her, but he just wouldn't comply. So, I stepped in...(sorry the video isn't rotated)...

Couple days of monumental proportions...

Monday was GREAT! It started off with Jake sleeping 8 hours straight and was capped off with him rolling over and taking an entire bottle! We were hanging on the couch and he was sucking merrily away on his paci, when he must have spit it out and could not live without it. He went trying to get it with his mouth, and he rolled on his side, got the paci and then completed rolling over on his tummy. I was quite shocked! Then he took his first complete bottle from me, giving me hope that day care won't be a complete catastrophe! Since then he has rolled over two more times. Daddy thinks he is going to be walking any day now :)

Since I just started this, thought I would post a couple pics from the last few weeks...First visit to his only choice for school...he begged to wear a hat and started singing Bear Down (I swear!)...And his first poker game. Unfortunately he didn't win, but he is working on the card counting and his bluff. He will learn to take Jessica down...

Convinced to start a blog...

So, friends have been trying to tell me to start a blog to share all the goings on of the expanding Bower family. Well, they have finally beat me into submission. I will share all the fun trials and tribulations of becoming first time parents and whatnot. Hope you enjoy!
