Cheeeeeeeeeeeze!

Two Sundays ago, Derek and I took Jacob to the Butterfly Exhibit at the Botannical Gardens. It was fun and Jake was a ham. He loves saying "CHEEEEEEZE" to the camera. Here are two pictures I snapped from my phone of him. He even snatched my phone out of my hand and was walking around pointing it at people and saying "CHEEEEEEEZE".  Hoot and a half.

Easter Bunny came!

Hey all.  Jake here.  Last night the Easter Bunny came to see me! He was much cooler this year than last. I was so excited to see him that I fell asleep early last night and I decided to give Momma and Daddy a Easter present too.  I let them sleep in until 6:30!  And then Daddy gave Momma an Easter present too, she got to sleep until 8:30!  Daddy made us all blackberry pancakes and then we went outside for an egg hunt!  It was lots of fun, though I really wanted to pick up rocks and play in the muddy soon to be garden instead. Hope you all had a great Easter as well.  Here are some pics that Momma took of my Easter egg hunt.

 Can't... open... egg...

The Easter Bunny is coming...

Today we made natural dyed eggs.  Here is the bounty of what we had to make the dyes. We had beets, red chilies, red onion, yellow onion, carrots, spinach and blueberries.
We used beets and chili peppers for the pink/red, carrots and yellow onion skins for orange, spinach for green and blueberries for blue/purple.
Jake got all gussied up for some dying fun and of course had to wear his bunny rabbit ears.
The final result was much different than I expected.  The colors weren't vivid but had depth, nothing like the colors out of a tube or a box.  It was lots of fun to do.  Next year we will experiment more with the colors.

Outside?

Today was a fabulous day. Started off with getting our Bountiful Basket (what to do with kumquats???), hiking, Anthem Park with Auntie Jessica and Avery for Easter pictures, and Jacob showing me how much he truly understands things. We were playing blocks in the house, when he brought me his hoodie. Looks at me and says as clear as day "Outside". I ask, "Do you want to go outside?" He nods affirmatively. I say, "Well, we need to get your pants and shoes on first." I grab his pants and begin looking for his shoes, only noticing singles and no pairs. He comes back to me with two matching shoes in hand, anxiously awaiting me to help him put them on, so we can go outside. Amazing...Truly amazing...My little guy is so grown up!

Cubs v. Sox-Spring Training

First baseball game of the season with G Daddy, Momma, Auntie Cathy and Uncle Chip...Had lots of fun playing in the grass and getting to see Woo Woo.

Ostrich Festival

Last weekend we went to the Ostrich Festival. It was fun. Jake's fave part was feeding Mommy and Daddy goldfish and eating roasted corn.
